Why this work

During nearly two decades in hospital dentistry, Dr. Rifat saw the same problem again and again: the people who needed dental care most, older adults and those with disabilities or serious illness, were often the ones who found it hardest to get. She was troubled by that gap between need and care, and decided to do something about it.

In 2019 she completed a Master's degree in Geriatric Dentistry at the University of Southern California, focusing on dental care for older adults and medically complex patients. Her research on how oral health affects nutrition in adults over 65 was published in the Journal of Prosthodontic Research.

Today she is the UAE Country Ambassador for the Federation of Special Care Dentistry, and works to raise awareness of oral health for older and vulnerable people across the region.

How she practises

Holistic and minimally invasive: saving natural teeth, preventing problems before they start, and connecting mouth health to whole-body health.

  • Appointments are never rushed. Patients get the time they need.
  • Families and carers are welcome, and are part of the conversation.
  • Every step is explained clearly, before it happens.
  • Treatment is planned around health, medicines and what matters to the patient.

Care beyond the clinic
